I love to read when I can snag some quiet, down time here and there through my day. Here is a list of books I am slowly working my way through at the moment:

1. Radical by David Platt
2. The Pursuit of God by A.W. Tozer
3. Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austin
4. Sixteen Brides by Stephanie Whitson
5. The Choice (Lancaster County Secrets, Book 1) by Suzanne Woods Fisher

All but one of these were downloaded for free on my free Amazon Kindle app on my phone. It so nice to be able to read for both improving my relationship with God and for leisure. My favorite days to read are the days of Autumn and Winter when we have no plans and can just stay home and lay under a soft blanket with a hot cup of something good and relax. What books are you reading through??

I am so very sorry for my absence from my blog for several months!! I was very busy over the summer and beginning of the new school year trying to keep up with all that is on my plate. I hope to get back into posting at least once or twice a day and I hope you stop by to check in often!!

A refresher on me: I am a stay at home mom to six children. Five girls, ages 14, 12, 9, 6, and 4; one boy, age 2. I provide child care in my home occasionally, usually during the summer. We home schooled for six years. The kids went back to public school last year. I am a born again believer in Jesus Christ. He is my Savior. Apart from his grace, I could not do anything.  So when people ask me how in world could keep up with everything, I reply that it is only by the grace of God. He is my strength, my comforter and my all in all!

I am not one of those couponers that is obsessed with coupons. I do not always save 60-90 percent on my groceries. My main goal is to be a good steward of what resources God has blessed my family with. One of the methods I utilize to do that is by using coupons and keeping track of the sales on the items we use most often.

My main goal and purpose is to bring glory to God in all that I do!

Garage/rummage sales is one of the things my hubby and I enjoy doing together.

So, Saturday morning my hubby woke me up at 5:30 AM to go to rummage sales. We were out for several hours and I scored some great deals. I was able to snag a pair lace-up, slip on Skechers size 8 for my 12 year old for....drumroll please.... 50 CENTS!! And these are in REALLY good shape!! At the same place I was able to find a new pair of jeans and a new shirt-both with the tags on for $1 each.
We stopped at one place that was $5 per bag of clothing as long as you could tie it shut. There I was able to get two denim skirts and one pair of jeans for my 5 year old, one pair of shorts, a pair of jeans, and a dress for my 9 year old and a top for myself. That averages out to about $0.72 per item!!
We were able to get a large pop-up Diego bus for our 2 year old son to play in in his room for $5. We got him a toy truck and tractor for under $2. We bought him a pair of Levi's for $0.25, a pair of Spiderman light up shoes for $0.50, and a pair of Cars slipper-shoes for $0.50.
I bought a like new purse for myself for $0.50.
My hubby was able to snag himself 2 short sleeve Colts t-shirts and 2 long sleeve Colts shirts for $1-$2 a piece and a saws-all (not sure if that is spelled right-I am not a power tools person) for $15.

We spent around $40 while out. I am pretty sure we saved way more than that on the things we bought.

With all the hype about TLC's series Extreme Couponing, I thought it appropriate to share some links about how to practice the manners mama taught ya while couponing.
We all want to save as much as possible at the check out lane but we do not want to do it at expense of compromising our integrity and morals. When we play fair and by the rules, we can all save on things we need without breaking any rules.

I had an amazing time at the Hearts at Home National Conference  ! I will do my best to go again next year -- and be more prepared for lack of sleep ;-)! We heard some wonderful speakers, great worship music, and an all around good time!
I was sick after the conference and spent a good week recouping. But, as all moms know, life still goes on. Children need transportation to and from school, little ones still need watching after and playing with, housework still calls our name, and everyone still wants to be fed. So I muddled through the week and still drug a little the next week.
Last week my children were on Spring Break and were so pleased that the weather was nice. It warmed up and the shone...well, for the first three days, anyway. The rest of the week it was very cold and wintry mix weather. It even snowed Saturday!! I guess Winter didn't get the memo about it being Spring time! ;-)
The children are back to school this week and we are getting back to our normal routines--if there ever is a "normal" in a family of eight! We have quite a few birthdays coming up this week. I have nephew being born TODAY, a niece turning 2 on April 1st, my 5yo daughter's friend's birthday party Saturday afternoon, my 2nd oldest daughter's birthday party Saturday evening(she is turning 12 on Sunday), and Sunday is our niece's birthday party (the one turning 2).

I have another hiatus from blogging coming up. This is PLANNED hiatus this time! My wonderful husband will be holding down the fort here at home while I am off  to the Hearts at Home National Conference          with a group of great ladies from our church. I am really looking forward to going as this will be the first year I will have gone. I will resume blogging next week :)
